1 in Custody, 1 at Large After Cleveland Avenue Home Invasion: Cops

One man was jailed Friday morning and a second has a warrant out for his arrest.

JOLIET, IL — One of two men wanted in connection with a Monday home invasion was captured and jailed, police said, and a second remains at large.

Cesar Zavala, 27, was arrested Thursday night and booked into the Will County jail early Friday morning. Zavala’s alleged accomplice, 20-year-old Christopher Ortiz, has a warrant out for his arrest.

Zavala and Ortiz entered a home on Cleveland Avenue and hit a man in the head, according to a criminal complaint filed in Will County court. The two Joliet men were both charged with home invasion and residential burglary.

Zavala’s bond was set at $200,000. The warrant for Ortiz’s arrest carries a $175,000 bond.
