2 Teens Shot In Joliet, Wheeler Ave Gunman Escapes

The 15-year-old boy and the 17-year-old boy were walking along Wheeler Avenue when someone shot them, according to Joliet police.

JOLIET, IL — Two teenage gunshot victims on Friday afternoon made it to the Ascension St. Joe's hospital without calling for an ambulance and their gunshot wounds may have come from a drive-by shooter on Wheeler Avenue, according to Joliet police.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that officers were first learned of the shooting at 4:04 p.m. where they were summoned to the St. Joe's hospital where the two gunshots victims were in the Emergency Room.

The two boys, 15 and 17, were struck by gunfire while walking in the area of the 600 block of Wheeler Avenue. The 15-year-old sustained multiple gunshot wounds and the 17-year-old male sustained one gunshot wound.

Both victims arrived at the hospital under their own power and their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

"It is believed that the gunfire may have come from a passing vehicle, however, this remains under investigation," English announced.
