According to Joliet Police Department Deputy Chief Ed Gregory, the 26-year-old woman was traveling westbound on Caton Farm Road approaching Grove and driving a Silver 2003 Chevrolet Malibu when she disregarded a stop sign and became wedged under the box truck, which was driven by a 45-year-old. The truck was traveling northbound on Grove Road proceeding from the stop sign.
“From what they told me, they broke two jaws of life trying to extricate her from the vehicle,” Gregory said. “Their efforts were hampered by the nature of the crash and the location of the vehicle.”

LifeStar flew the woman to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where she is in critical condition, Gregory said.
The intersection is expected to be closed for hours, and crash investigators are at the scene. It’s possible the woman will be cited for the crash, but that will be determined later, Gregory said.
