2 Dogs Die In Joliet House Fire As Flames Spread Throughout This House On Highland Avenue

Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to the interior of the structure to bring the fire under control.

JOLIET, IL —Joliet Fire Department Battalion Chief Nick Carbaugh notified Joliet Patch that Saturday's evening fire on Highland Avenue resulted in the deaths of two family pets.

According to Carbaugh, at 6:24 p.m,, the Joliet Fire Department responded to 1005 Highland Avenue for a structure fire. The first units arrived on scene within six minutes of dispatch and found fire showing from the rear of a one-and-a-half-story residence.

The home’s occupants were not present at the time of the incident, and the fire was reported by neighbors. Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to the interior of the structure to bring the fire under control.

The fire was declared under control at 6:37 p.m. Two family dogs perished in the fire.

Crews from Joliet Fire Stations 1, 4, 5, 6, and 8 responded to the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
