2 Joliet Teens Shot On Benton Street: JPD
Thursday afternoon's shooting happened in the 400 block of East Benton Street on Joliet's east side.

JOLIET, IL — Two 17-year-old boys suffered serious injuries when they were both shot on Thursday afternoon in the 400 block of East Benton Street, on Joliet's east side.
The shooter got away before Joliet police officers got to the shooting.

Numerous spent shell casings were found on Benton Street and both of the gunshot victims were taken to area hospitals by the Joliet Fire Department with serious injuries, Joliet police noted.
An extensive canvas of the area was completed, and detectives and evidence technicians arrived at the scene to initiate their investigation, police spokesman Dwayne English pointed out.

Benton Street has had other shootings in recent years, Joliet Patch archives show.
In 2020, on June 12, at Benton Street and Casseday Avenue, a 16-year-old boy suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds and on July 19, 2020, in the 600 block of East Benton Street, a 29-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds.
