2 Motorcycles Involved in Fatal Joliet Township Crash: Police
The driver of the second motorcycle allegedly called 911 and then left the scene.

JOLIET, IL — Two motorcycles were involved in a Saturday crash that left a 33-year-old Monee man dead.
According to Will County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer, officers were sent to Laraway Road and Manhattan Road at 3:10 a.m. Saturday for the crash.

Police found Jon S. Mitchell and a 35-year-old Manhattan woman in a ditch. Mitchell was pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m. at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The Manhattan woman was found conscious and breathing. She was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for testing and non-life threatening injuries, Hoffmeyer said.
The woman told police she was riding as a passenger on one of the bikes and was heading to Manhattan, but couldn’t give any further information.

Police were unable to locate a third person, who is believed to be the second motorcyclist and the one who called 911, then left the scene before police arrived.
Hoffmeyer said once detectives locate the second motorcyclist, he or she would most likely receive some charges.
