Braidwood police said that they do not suspect speed or alcohol was a factor for the driver of the Volkswagen. "We ask that pedestrians utilize marked crosswalks for everyone’s safety, along with reflective clothing," Braidwood's Police Department announced on Facebook.

The deadly crash remains under investigation with the Braidwood Police Department, Callahan's Office and the Illinois State Police, officials said.
