2 Shot In Joliet On Henry Street, 3 Homes Struck By Gunfire As Officers Hear The Gunshots: Police

The motive remains unknown, and no arrests have been made, Joliet police said Monday morning.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department is now investigating its first shooting of the month after Sunday night's gunfire injured two people in their 20s, leaving one in critical condition.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:50 p.m., the patrol units responded to the 700 block of Henry Street after hearing gunfire nearby. He said the officers found a 22-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his leg and foot. A second victim, a 20-year-old man, was found inside a house with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical aid until Joliet Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported both victims to
Silver Cross Hospital.

The 22-year-old victim was listed in stable condition. The 20-year-old victim was transferred to a hospital in Chicago, where he remains in critical condition, English said.

"Preliminary information indicates that suspects in two separate vehicles fired toward the victims while they were seated in a parked vehicle," English said. "Three homes were also struck by gunfire. No additional injuries were reported."

Officers later located both vehicles believed to be involved in the shooting abandoned in separate areas of the city.

"The motive remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. This remains an active investigation," English stressed.
