2 Tasers Used On Angry, Combative, Fighting Man During His Arrest At Fenton's Motel Parking Lot: Police

JOLIET, IL — A 41-year-old Crest Hill man who is no stranger to trouble with the law now faces seven counts of aggravated battery to a police officer following Tuesday night's violent confrontation with the Joliet police force, his arrest report showed.

Besides the seven counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, Andrew Hare faces one count of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal trespass, two counts of resisting/obstructing a peace officer and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Hare also had two outstanding arrest warrants, one from Will County and
one from the Naperville Police Department.

The events leading to Tuesday night's arrest began at one of the Walgreens on West Jefferson.

At 10:15 p.m., police spokesman Dwayne English revealed, the officers responded to the Walgreens at 2101 West Jefferson for a retail theft. Hare had allegedly concealed merchandise and left the store without paying. Officers were advised that Hare then fled the area in a Chevrolet pickup truck.

While searching the area, an officer located a pickup truck matching the description of the vehicle at the Fentons Motel, 2305 West Jefferson Street. Hare was observed standing near the vehicle, English noted.

"As the officer attempted to detain Hare, he allegedly became argumentative, disregarded the officer’s commands, and pushed the officer. Hare then fled on foot, prompting the officer to deploy a taser. Hare fell to the ground but allegedly kicked toward the officer and attempted to get back to his feet," English announced. "A second taser was deployed, after which Hare was taken into custody."

During a search of Hare following his arrest, officers recovered a pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics, the arrest report showed.

Hare was subsequently transferred to the Will County
Adult Detention Facility on the outstanding warrants.
