JOLIET, IL — The last time Joliet Patch wrote about a million-dollar lottery ticket being sold in Joliet was 2017. But Joliet's dry streak has come to an end. The Illinois Lottery issued a press release on Monday announcing that a $2 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in Joliet at the Mobil station at 1600 New Lenox Road, on the city's far east side.

Joliet's winning Mega Millions ticket was sold on Friday, April 5, and someone matched all five numbers: 8,22, 24, 38 and 64 but not the Mega Ball number, which was 21.

However, the Joliet ticket also matched the Megaplier number that was drawn, 2, and that's what made the winning ticket into a $2 million prize.

The Mobil station on New Lenox Road will receive a bonus of $20,000 for selling the winner ticket, the lottery said.
