3 Killed, Including Baby, In Will County Crash

Monday's early morning crash occurred along Route 50 south of Wilmington-Peotone Road, the Illinois State Police said.

WILL COUNTY, IL — A young man, a 23-year-old woman and a 3-month-old child died early Monday morning in a fiery one-vehicle wreck along Route 50 near Wilmington-Peotone Road, the Illinois State Police announced. The three victims lived in Steger, police said.

According to police, the 22-year-old man was driving a 2012 gray Dodge vehicle northbound along Route 50, about a quarter mile south of the Wilmington-Peotone Road, when the vehicle veered into a ditch around 12:35 a.m.

The vehicle struck a tree and erupted in flames, killing all three motorists, police said. The woman who died was 23, police said. The identities of the three Steger victims have not been released yet, pending notification of relatives, authorities said.
