3 Young Men Ordained Priests In Diocese of Joliet

Bishop Ron Hicks will ordain three men to the priesthood at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ray's. One of the new priests will go to Holy Family.

JOLIET, IL — Diocese of Joliet Bishop Ron Hicks announced that he will ordain three men into the priesthood at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus. The ordination Mass will be livestreamed on the diocese’s YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/hIc4MwdL1RU.

“Today I not only celebrate the ordination of three candidates to the priesthood, but also the anniversary of my own ordination,” Hicks said in Tuesday's news release. “My prayer for these men is that they experience as much joy and fulfillment as I have for the past 28 years.”

Gregory Alberts, 25, of Mokena, is the son of Daniel and Patricia Alberts. He has two brothers and one sister. He obtained a master of divinity degree in 2022 from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.

His assignment at Visitation Catholic Church in Elmhurst will begin on July 1. He will celebrate his first Mass as a priest at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mokena.

Brian Geary, 31, of Mokena, is the son of William and Eileen Geary. He has one sister. He obtained a master of divinity degree in 2022 from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

His assignment at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood will begin on July 1. He will celebrate his first Mass as a priest at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mokena.

Thomas Logue III, 29, of Hinsdale, is the son of Thomas and Geralyn Logue. He has three sisters. He obtained a master of divinity degree in 2022 from the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of St. Thomas (St. John Vianney College Seminary) in St. Paul, Minnesota.

His assignment at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville will begin on July 1. He will celebrate his first Mass as a priest at noon on Sunday, May 22, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Hinsdale.
