ROCKDALE, IL — A 33-year-old Joliet man tracked down a woman who just obtained an order of protection against him at her new address in Rockdale, where he broke into her apartment Sunday night and beat her up for several hours until he left for work Monday morning, according to Rockdale deputy police chief Rob Baikie.

At one point during the middle-of-the night beatings, Bulmaro Reyes Jr. told his female victim "that it started to be fun," Baikie told Joliet Patch during Wednesday's interview.

On Tuesday, the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow charged Reyes, who comes from the 500 block of East Jackson Street, on Joliet's east side, with home invasion, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, criminal trespass to property and two counts of domestic battery.

According to his criminal complaint, Reyes entered the woman's apartment building in the 600 block of Moen Avenue, and injured her Monday, March 6.

He is accused of strangling her several times and entering her apartment without authority. Reyes also hit the woman in her head, and he also bit her, according to court files.

A Will County judge set bail at $500,000 for Reyes. Incidentally, Reyes was just in the Will County Jail from Jan. 17-19 after Joliet police arrested him on four counts of domestic battery. In that case, he was freed from custody after posting 10 percent of his $10,000 bail, jail logs show.

Baikie said the victim refused to go to the hospital by ambulance. The woman recently moved to Rockdale to escape from Reyes, and she just obtained an order of protection to keep him away from her, but he had not been served with it, yet, according to the deputy police chief.

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Reyes forced his way into her apartment, took away her phone and forced her to use illegal drugs, including cocaine, in hopes of getting her in trouble with the Department of Children and Family Services, Baikie said.

"This was our first run in with him," Baikie said.

On Monday, Reyes left for work and Rockdale police say they found him at his job at the one of the Joliet warehouses in the 3000 block of South Chicago Street, and he agreed to return to the Rockdale police station for questioning.

However, at the police station, Reyes invoked his rights to an attorney, Baikie said.

Baikie said that video surveillance cameras obtained by police show Reyes forcing his way into the apartment complex on Moen Avenue before the attack.

"I'm glad we were able to get him in custody," Baikie told Joliet Patch. Reyes "beat her throughout the night. I'm hoping he goes to prison. To hold someone against their will for several hours, it's a pretty brutal crime."
