6 Cars Set On Fire In Joliet West Side Neighborhood

JOLIET, IL — While most of Joliet was sound asleep, someone roaming the Reedwood neighborhood poured gasoline on six vehicles and set them on fire. Joliet police learned of the crimes around 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

"It was determined that a total of four vehicles were heavily damaged by fire, and two additional vehicles appeared to have lesser damage caused by fire," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said.

He said all the fires were intentionally set using gasoline and the fires are related. The fire-damaged vehicles were located in the 1100-1200 block of West Marion Street, the 100 block of South Reed Street, the 1000 block of West Jefferson Street and the 0-50 block of Oneill Street.

Joliet police have asked that anyone with information or surveillance video footage is encouraged to contact Detective McKinney at 815-724-3385. Residents may also upload videos or provide information anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Will County online.
