The fire caused around $50,000 worth of damage.

A 7-year-old girl has been hospitalized after a fire broke out this morning at 603 Dover Street in Joliet, according to Joliet Fire Chief Mike Stromberg.

The call for the fire came in at around 9:45 a.m. Friday, June 19. When firefighters arrived at the scene they saw a room and contents fire on the main floor of the building. The 7-year-old’s mom was outside and told rescuers her daughter was still in the building.

The 7 year old was pulled from the fire unconscious and taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center. According to Stromberg, the girl was pulled out of the building just minutes after they became aware she was inside.
