JOLIET, IL — Prudencio Barajas-Mendoza, a 60-year-old resident who Joliet police say spent Sunday night drinking alcoholic beverages inside Rey De Copas Bar on Collins Street, never made it home this morning.

He ended up at the Will County Jail facing charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

At 2:58 a.m., officers were called to the Rey De Copas bar for a welfare check. Barajas-Mendoza had left his vehicle key inside the bar, which had closed for the evening, police reports show.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, Barajas-Mendoza appeared to be intoxicated, and he refused the officer's offer to give him a ride home.

A short time after Joliet police left the scene, Barajas- Mendoza called 911 again demanding assistance in retrieving his key from the bar, English noted.

This time, officers gave Barajas-Mendoza a ride back to his residence in the 300 block of Jackson Street. Before letting him go, officers warned Barajas-Mendoza to stop calling 911 unless it was an emergency.

At 2:57 a.m., Barajas-Mendoza continued to call 911 multiple times demanding assistance in retrieving his vehicle key, according to the police.

Officers located Barajas-Mendoza at the Gulf gas station, 334 Collins St. and took him away in handcuffs following a brief struggle.

"It was determined that Barajas- Mendoza had called 911 eight times," English announced.
