After Orange Suitcase Incident, He Bit Crest Hill Sergeant's Hand Leaving Teeth Impression: Prosecutors
The Crest Hill police officers found the defendant across the street and attempted to place him under arrest.

CREST HILL — A 46-year-old man from Crest Hill is being kept inside the Will County Jail following his confrontation with the Crest Hill Police force resulting in charges of aggravated battery, three counts of resisting a police officer and one crime of violating an order of protection.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has filed a petition to deny pretrial release against inmate Michael Caligiuri.
According to the prosecution's filing, the Crest Hill officers responded to the 20500 block of McGilvray Drive for a violation of order of protection. When the officers arrived, they found one orange suitcase at the front door. They
spoke with the woman has obtained the order of protection and she relayed that Caligiuri "had walked from Lockport to the residence with the orange suitcase stating he needs clothes and he was now knocking on the neighbors' doors asking for a ride," court files show.

The order of protection was issued on April 20, and the defendant is not allowed at the residence on McGilvery Drive. The order of protection is in place until May 11, 2026,
and the defendant was served, court documents indicate.
In any event, the officers found Caligiuri across the street and when they tried to place him under arrest, he pulled away from and refused to be handcuffed.

"The defendant continued to pull his hands away from Sgt. Smith and Officer Black. The defendant was then
assisted to the ground, where he continued to resist and bit Sgt. Smith on his right hand," prosecutors noted. "The bite left an imprint of teeth marks and punctured skin that was bleeding."
While struggling with the defendant, Officer Smith sustained an injury to his elbow which caused heavy bruising and
swelling, according to prosecutors.
