At this point I would like to explain a little bit about Allison and what she liked.
I mentioned in an earlier post that when she was in the hospital bed and we would do whatever she wanted, she often wanted to play with her beads. I still to this day have a small suitcase filled with all her beads. Allison loved to make necklaces and bracelets.
However, she also had good taste in finer jewelry. At the time, Home Shopping Network and QVC where really big. Countless hours where spent watching these two shows that were on pretty much all day.

It was also the same time that Channel 11 was doing a documentary on Children's Memorial and picked a few children to follow and tell their story. Allison was one of those picked. While filming her during a hospital stay, Dr. Goldman teased her about not watching so much TV, she would not have it. Actually she told him that she wanted a ruby diamond ring and he should pull out that credit card of his and buy it for her. One week after that show aired on TV I got a call from the hospital telling me a woman in Alaska has a ruby diamond ring that she would like to give to Allison. That act of kindness is what I want to pay forward.
I have created packets that I would like to get to every mom dealing with a terminally ill child. In this packet I have some background on Allison, a medication card to keep in wallet and two pieces of jewelry. One to keep and one to give to a stranger as an act of random kindness.

I don't know who the woman in Alaska is, but I hope that somehow she hears about this so she knows her act of kindness is being paid forward.
I am currently working hard to get these packets into Children's Hospitals. I have the help of some wonderful contacts that will make this dream a reality.
I also have a friend that makes beautiful jewelry feverishly making jewelry to donate to the cause. Ultimately, I would love to create a line of jewelry that is Allison's line. I want something that is identifiable as one of her pieces when someone is wearing it.
The whole purpose of doing this blog and making the jewelry packets is to get the word out that I am here to help. I am here if you are dealing with such a crisis and you want to talk, need help starting a chemo log or just need help with all the other aspects involved in having a terminal child. Please contact me. No one and I mean no one totally understands what you are dealing with except another mom that has been in your shoes.
