Amazon Prime Semitrailer Gets Lost By Joliet Police Station

Not only was the semi driver lost, but he worried his Amazon Prime truck would not clear the train viaduct near Joliet's Police Station.

JOLIET, IL — Moments after I crossed the Jefferson Street Bridge and parked my car near Joliet's City Hall I saw an Amazon Prime semi-trailer following right behind me. Something isn't right, I thought. After all, semi-trailers are restricted to major thoroughfares in Joliet.

They should not be driving on Des Plaines Street.

After I parked my car, it was obvious that the semi-driver was lost. He stopped in the middle of the street right in front of the Joliet Police Station, causing several other motorists to have to wait behind him as the situation unfolded.

I watched the incident from the sidewalk by the police station.

The Amazon Prime driver struck up a conversation with a Joliet Police Department supervisor, apparently explaining he was lost. The man was also concerned about the train viaduct about a half block up the street.

The Joliet Police supervisor offered to give the Amazon Prime semi driver an escort. The police official was confident the semi would not get stuck under the viaduct.

When the semi reached the viaduct, the driver pulled forward at a snail's pace. But within a couple minutes time, he made it through without any problems.

Another day, another lost Joliet semi-trailer. I shook my head.

As far as I am concerned, Joliet needs to erect a sign on all the gateways to the community proclaiming that "Joliet Is The World Capital Of Lost Commercial Semi-Trailers."
