JOLIET, IL —The Will County Sheriff's Office of Mike Kelley announced on Wednesday the recovery of a missing juvenile in Sedalia, Missouri, along with the safe apprehension of three people from Joliet: Devetta Davis, Raven Johnson and Karon Nabors.
According to Will County, Devetta Davis was wanted for child abduction. Charges allege that Davis, who no longer has custody of her child, picked up the child at his home in Joliet under false pretenses and brought him to Missouri without the father’s knowledge/consent resulting in the child being listed as missing.
The Will County State's Attorney's Office recently charged Davis with two crimes of child abduction, alleging that the incidents occurred on April 2 and again on April 7.
In Wednesday's Facebook bulletin, Will County Sheriff's officials noted that Devetta Davis has an extensive criminal history, involving 23 arrests with 22 convictions, including allegations of homicide, weapons, assault, sex offenses, and theft offenses.
As for Raven Johnson, she was wanted by the Joliet Police Department on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan fraud and various retail theft charges.
Johnson’s criminal history involves eight arrests with three convictions, including weapons, assault, burglary, obstructing, and various theft offenses.
As for third person, Karon Nabors was wanted by the Joliet Police Department on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding police. Nabors’ criminal history involves seven arrests with three convictions, including possession of stolen motor vehicle, flight-escape and invasion of privacy.
On Monday, members of the United States Marshals Service located Davis and members of the apprehension team conducted physical surveillance of the home in Missouri and of Davis at the home. The apprehension team saw Johnson and the missing juvenile drive up and enter the home. The apprehension team found Davis, Johnson, Nabors and the missing juvenile inside the home, and all four were safely taken into custody.
Davis, Johnson, and Nabors were taken to the Pettis County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office, pending extradition back to Will County. The missing juvenile was later safely reunited with his father, the sheriff's office said.
