JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department made an arrest of a 27-year-old motorist, Kimani Johnson, in connection with a gun incident involving the west side motorist.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, on April 18, at 8:19 a.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Bellarmine Drive West for a reported disturbance. English said the officers
learned that a male driver of a Kia Telluride had been traveling at a high rate of speed and nearly struck someone.
The driver then allegedly made threatening statements.
A short time later, while stopped at a traffic light at McDonough Street and Larkin Avenue, the same suspect pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle, allegedly displayed a handgun, and made additional threats, English noted.
Officers located the Kia in the area and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Kimani Johnson, was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle and the nearby motel room
where Johnson had been staying did not locate a gun.
Johnson was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. He was processed at the Joliet Police Department and released on a notice to appear in court.
