Helene L. Venegone, age 75, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois. She was born on August 25, 1950, in Ottawa, Illinois.

Even in her passing, Helene’s life continues to speak—reminding those left behind that love expressed in simple, faithful ways can light even the darkest paths.

Helene is survived by her son, Matthew Venegone and his wife Jennifer, who were constant sources of pride and comfort to her. Her role as a grandmother brought her particular joy, cherishing two grandchildren, Aidan and Marissa. Her niece, Deborah Schmitz, and many dear friends also survive.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Eugene M. Venegone; her parents, Reynold and Sara (Wendt) Streul; siblings, Allan Streul and Chuck Streul.

A memorial gathering for Helene L. Venegone will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Queen of Apostles Church, 18 Woodlawn Ave. in Joliet, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
