JOLIET, IL — Downtown Joliet sprang back to life on Friday evening as hundreds of people from the City of Champions flocked downtown to see the new City Square. Free concerts were played on the stage as others walked along the new brick pavers in front of the Rialto Square Theater for the classic car show.
Friday's visitors included Mayor Terry D'Arcy, City Manager Beth Beatty and Ann Sylvester, director of special events and cultural affairs for the city of Joliet. Emmanuel Lopez, who took over in 2025 as the new director of the Joliet City Center Partnership, was on hand as well.
The creation of Joliet's City Square has been underway since May of 2024.
