JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department revealed on Monday morning that a 17-year-old boy accused of stabbing another 17-year-old at 366 North Broadway Street on May 3, 2026, has been charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
The 17-year-old arrestee was processed at the Joliet Police Department and transferred to the River Valley Justice Center.
The victim in this case remains in critical condition at St. Joseph Medical Center.
The crime happened at the old Evergreen Terrace property.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 12:55 p.m., officers responded to the Riverwalk Homes Apartments for a reported stabbing. The officers located a 17-year-
old boy on the fifth floor of 366 N. Broadway who had sustained a serious stab wound. The victim was transported by the Joliet Fire Department to St. Joseph Medical Center.
English said the officers secured the scene and conducted a canvass of the area. A knife has been recovered at the scene, English revealed.
"At the time of this release, the victim remains in critical condition at St. Joseph Medical Center. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Information is preliminary and may change as the investigation continues. Officers and detectives remain on scene, and additional details will
be released as they become available," English added.
