Joliet Police Hear Animal Crying, Dog Owner Taken Away In Handcuffs By Responding Officers: Cops

JOLIET, IL —The Joliet Police Department revealed that a 36-year-old member of the community was arrested in recent days in connection with allegations of harming one of his dogs.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:14 a.m. last Friday, an officer on patrol near Center Street and Oneida Street heard the sound of an animal crying. While investigating, the officer saw a man striking a pit bull multiple times with a closed fist and kicking the dog while it
was lying on the ground.

The officer made contact with the individual, identified as John Carter, 36, who stated he was disciplining the dog, the arrest report noted.

Carter was taken into custody without incident. The dog was
secured and transported by officers to Joliet Township Animal Control. Carter was charged with three counts of animal cruelty. He was processed at the Joliet Police Department and later released on a notice to appear in Will County's Courthouse.
