JOLIET, IL — After spending the past three days in the Will County Jail, 64-year-old Plainfield area resident Donald Tijan has been turned loose, following his arrest by Joliet police last weekend in connection with allegations that he attacked two members of his own family.

According to the Joliet police, at 9:08 p.m. on Saturday, the officers responded to a residence in the 6500 block of Bazz Drive for a domestic disturbance. During an altercation in the home, it is alleged that Tijan struck a woman with an open hand. Tijan is also accused of punching his brother-in-law when he tried to intervene in the original attack, the arrest report noted.

Tijan was initially arrested and charged with two counts of domestic battery. He was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office did not file a petition to deny pretrial release. Instead, Tijan was released from the jail under various pretrial conditions set forth by the judge.
