JOLIET, IL — A person was killed and westbound Interstate 80 in Joliet was closed after a wrong-way crash involving a semitrailer mid-day Monday, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on the interstate at Briggs Street, when a vehicle traveling the wrong way collided with a semi, according to state police.
Two people were taken to a hospital with injuries, one of whom later died, police said.
All westbound lanes were closed with traffic diverted to U.S. Route 30 as of 1:15 p.m., according to police.
