ELWOOD, IL — A man who grew up in Joliet is now facing serious legal troubles at the Will County Courthouse as the Will County State's Attorney's Office has charged 44-year-old Louis Bertolini with fifth offense aggravated driving under the influence as well as aggravated driving while license revoked.
Will County Undersheriff Dan Jungles said that Bertolini was involved in a crash on May 6 and as a result of the wreck, Bertolini was taken by ambulance from the scene to an area hospital; that's why there was no booking mugshot available in connection with his fifth offense DUI charge.
However, Bertolini was supposed to show up at the Will County Courthouse on Wednesday for his first court appearance, but because he failed to appear, one of Will County's judges has issued a no-bond warrant for his arrest, court records show.
Court documents indicate that Bertolini currently resides in Manhattan in the 13800 block of West Carriage Lane. He turns 45 in June.
According to Wednesday's criminal complaint, Bertolini was driving a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck on May 6 along Ridge Road near Elwood "while under the influence of alcohol." The Will County Sheriff's Office made the arrest.
Will County's prosecutors noted that Bertolini has four prior DUI convictions and those happened on:
As for his second felony charge, this week's criminal complaint indicated that Bertolini was driving the Dodge Ram pickup truck on May 6 "at a time when his driver's license was revoked" and "the current violation ... is the defendant's fifth violation."
