JOLIET, IL — One of the most arrested persons in Joliet continues to be 37-year-old Shane Valentine. Joliet Patch ran a story about Valentine last week in connection with allegations that he keeps stealing merchandise from West Jefferson Street businesses to use for huffing. He has been arrested two more times since then.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 1:27 a.m. on Sunday, the officers responded to the 4900 block of Courtland Circle after a resident reported hearing yelling coming from a wooded area behind several residences.
While checking the area, officers located Shane Valentine near a fence allegedly inhaling compressed air cleaner, English noted.
When officers attempted to speak with Valentine, he ran away, toward the nearby Walmart store. Officers pursued him and took him into custody after a brief struggle, during which
Valentine allegedly tensed his body in an attempt to resist arrest, the police noted.
Valentine was charged with use of intoxicating compounds, criminal trespass to property and resisting a peace officer. He was processed at the Joliet Police Department and later released on a notice to appear pending a future court date.
On a related note, Joliet Patch just discovered that Valentine is now being held inside the Will County Jail after being arrested on Tuesday morning by Joliet police on more charges including disorderly conduct, criminal trespass, violation of parole, retail theft and burglary. The Will County jail logs also reveal that Valentine was kept inside the detention facility on:
March 3-April 22, a Will County Sheriff's Office arrest
May 21-23, Joliet police arrest
May 24-26, Joliet police arrest
May 28-30, Joliet police arrest
June 2: 7:11 a.m., another Joliet police arrest
