JOLIET, IL —A 47-year-old Joliet man from the 600 block of McDonough Street is now in the Will County Jail following his weekend arrest on the city's southeast side.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 12:09 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of South Joliet Street for an unwanted person on the property.

Upon arrival, English said Joliet police found that Jason Bingham was unwanted at a gathering taking place in the backyard of the residence, and the residents wanted him removed from the property.

As officers attempted to escort Bingham from the yard, he became belligerent and assumed a fighting stance toward officers, the arrest report alleged.

When officers attempted to place him into custody, Bingham lay on the ground and refused to comply with commands to stand. He was taken into custody following a brief struggle, English indicated.

Bingham also refused to cooperate with booking procedures at the Joliet Police Department before being transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

In all, Bingham was charged with aggravated assault, obstructing a peace officer and obstructing justice.
