Joliet House Goes Up Smoke: Firefighters Reveal 2 People Were Still Inside When Fire Started

JOLIET, IL — Four of the city's Joliet Fire Stations responded to a house fire that broke out just before lunch on Friday.

According to fire captain Eddie Crombie, at 11:52 a.m. the Joliet Fire Department responded to 1217 Roosevelt Ave. for a structure fire in a single-story residence.

Company 5 arrived within three minutes of the call and were
met with heavy smoke coming from the structure. Crews performed an interior attack and extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of arrival. The structure sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Crombie also revealed that two people were inside the structure at the time of the fire. They were able to exit without injury.

Fire crews from stations 1,5,6 and 8 responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
