JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department has arrested a 57-year-old man named Juan Mendoza on two crimes of battery in connection with a 13-year-old girl being the victim, the agency's arrest reports showed.
According to police spokesman Dwayne English, way back on July 11, 2022, the Joliet Police Department received a report alleging that an adult male had made unwanted physical contact with a 13-year-old girl.
English said the investigation determined that the previous day, Juan Mendoza allegedly made unwanted physical contact with the juvenile while at a residence in the 100 block of Inwood Drive. Mendoza was identified as the boyfriend of the victim's grandmother.
As the investigation progressed, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mendoza on December 1, 2022, charging him with two counts of battery. Shortly after midnight on July 12, 2026, Mendoza was taken into custody during a traffic stop in
the 700 block of Cleveland Avenue. He was processed at the Joliet Police Department before being transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Will County's Jail logs show that Mendoza comes from the 700 block of Francis Street, which is near Henderson Avenue. He only spent the one day in jail, regaining his freedom on Sunday morning after nine hours in custody.
