JOLIET, IL — For the past several years, the city of Joliet has torn up practically every intersection in the city, big or small, and now it's to make Larkin Avenue the latest project.
According to this week's press release from City of Joliet spokeswoman Sydney Thompson, the City of Joliet Public Utilities Department will begin construction of a water
main on Larkin Avenue as part of the Larkin Avenue Water Main Replacement Project beginning on Thursday.
The first phase of this project includes work to replace the water main on Larkin Avenue at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue. This work will be done utilizing overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Traffic on Larkin Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Black Road and Oneida Street during this time period.
The water main replacement work for this section of Larkin Avenue is anticipated to be completed by August 15. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes for the duration
of the work.
"We appreciate your patience and ask that you drive slowly and cautiously through any construction zone. Information about the project can be found by visiting joliet.gov/construction-zone. If you have any questions, please contact the Public Utilities
Department at (815) 724-4220," Thompson noted.
