JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges of possessing child sexual abuse material after nearly two dozen such images were found following a search of his home, authorities said.
Edgar Hernandez, 33, was taken into custody at his residence in the 300 block of Rowell Avenue on an arrest warrant charging him with three counts of Class 2 felony child sexual abuse material possession and five counts of Class 3 felony child sexual abuse material possession, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation that led to Hernandez’s arrest originated from a tip reported July 8, 2025, from Google to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and reviewed by detectives Oct. 10, authorities said, adding detectives also learned of more tips from Google linked to the primary tip. Detectives executed search warrants on Google and subpoenas to various providers, eventually identifying Hernandez as the suspect, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives searched Hernandez’s home on May 13 and seized several electronic devices, on which they found 23 images of child sexual abuse material, authorities said.
Hernandez was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and held pending a detention hearing, according to the sheriff's office.
