JOLIET, IL — A Joliet motorcyclist in his 40s and his female passenger in her 40s were both airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center late Wednesday night after they were traveling along Caton Farm Road when a car turned in front of them at the West Frontage Road, according to Joliet police.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English's press release, at 9:42 p.m., the officers responded to the intersection of Caton Farm Road and West Frontage Road for a traffic crash with injuries.
A Volkswagen Atlas, driven by a 41-year-old Alsip
man, was traveling eastbound on Caton Farm Road and attempting to turn left onto northbound West Frontage Road. As the Volkswagen entered the intersection, it collided with a westbound Kawasaki motorcycle operated by a 44-year-old Joliet man, who was accompanied by a 46-year-
old Joliet woman as a passenger, English said.
He said the impact ejected both occupants from the motorcycle. They sustained life-threatening injuries
and were transported by the Joliet Fire Department to Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Both were later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center for advanced medical treatment. The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured.
"Witnesses reported that traffic on Caton Farm Road had a green traffic signal at the time of the collision. The crash scene was reconstructed by members of the Joliet Police Traffic Unit.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with video footage or additional information related to this incident is asked to contact the Joliet Police Traffic Unit at (815) 724-3010," English said.
