(The following edited press release is from Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English of the public affairs unit.)
JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department, in partnership with the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois, Inwood Golf Club and the Joliet
Park District invites the community to attend the inaugural "Fore the Flame" charity golf challenge on Saturday, July 25.
"We want as much of the public to come out as possible," English informed Joliet Patch. "The wider the participation, the better, because all of the funds being raised will go to help out Special Olympics."
Participants will purchase five specially marked and numbered golf balls for $20 and attempt to land a golf ball inside of a decommissioned Joliet Police Department squad vehicle positioned on the driving range at around 100 yards.
Golf balls that land inside the police vehicle will be collected and entered into a drawing at the conclusion of the event.
Three winning golf balls will be selected:
• First drawing: Winner receives the 50/50 raffle grand prize
• Second and third drawings: Winners receive additional prizes
Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will benefit Special Olympics Illinois through the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run.
