JOLIET, IL — Not all crimes investigated at the Joliet Police Department involve murders, sexual assaults and aggravated batteries involving great bodily harm. Sometimes the crimes involve dinosaurs. That's right. Dinosaurs.
On Friday afternoon, the city's police officials posted a two-and-a-half minute-long video informing the community that "the Joliet Police Department is asking for the community's assistance with identifying the shown female who stole a decorative dinosaur from a residence in the 300 block of Western Ave on July 17, 2026."
The object looks similar to a green T-Rex —possibly a T-Rex topiary sold last year at Home Goods stores.
"The female appears to be driving a red Chevrolet SUV. Anyone with information about the identity of this individual & vehicle is asked to contact Joliet Police Department Officer Ayala at 815-724-3020.
