JOLIET, IL — Employees were evacuated from a funeral home on Black Road Tuesday when a fire broke out, fire officials said.
According to Battalion Chief Jim Batusich, firefighters responded to a structure fire at 5:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of Black Road. The location is the Carlson Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home.
Crews arrived within three minutes of the 911 call and found smoke and fire coming from the roof of the funeral home.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it spread in the attic, according to Batusich.
Joliet Fire crews performed ventilation, salvage and overhaul, officials said.
Funeral home employees were able to leave the building before the fire department arrived. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
