Hollywood Casino Joliet Marks 1-Year Anniversary With Special Promotion In Coming Days

JOLIET, IL —Today, Aug. 11, Hollywood Casino Joliet celebrates the first anniversary of its state-of-the-art landside entertainment destination.

Over the past year, the property has welcomed more than one million guests, hosted a variety of exciting entertainment performances and established itself as a new gathering place for community members and families.

In the summer of 2025, Hollywood will shut down its long-time location along Route 6 between Rockdale and Channahon and move all its gaming operations to its new Joliet location a few miles away. The casino opened in the early 1990s as a floating riverboat on the Des Plaines River when it was first known as the Empress Casino.

According to Hollywood Casino, the property features approximately 1,000 slots and 43 live table games, including a baccarat room, an approximately 10,000 square foot event center with meeting areas, and roughly 1,330 parking spaces.

By the numbers: during its first 12 months open, Hollywood Joliet has:

• Donated more than $260,000 to Joliet-area and Chicagoland non-profits
• Hosted 17 ticketed shows at the event center, with additional performances scheduled through December 2026
• Celebrated more than 38,000 jackpots for a grand total of more than $92.2 million (8/11/25-7/31/26)
• Prepared more than 4,100 orders of the famous Lemon Spaghetti at Sorellina by Giada

To celebrate the one-year anniversary, the property will be serving free cookies to guests on Aug. 11 and hosting an anniversary promotion for first timers on Aug. 21.
