Disorderly Conduct Arrest On Joliet PACE Bus After Woman, 48, Cannot Pay Her Fare: Police

JOLIET, IL — A 48-year-old Joliet woman named Guillermina Mowab was arrested over the weekend after an incident happened inside one of the PACE buses she was trying to ride.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 8:53 a.m. on Saturday, the officers responded to West Jefferson Street and Caterpillar Drive for a disturbance aboard a PACE bus.

English said the woman, later identified as Guillermina Mowa, had boarded the bus at the Jefferson Street and Caterpillar Drive stop and advised the driver that she did not have money for the fare and requested transportation.

English said that when the driver advised Mowab that she would not be able to ride the bus, it was alleged that
Mowab became upset and struck a plastic barrier located between the driver and the fare machine.

A passenger intervened after reportedly observing Mowab raise her arm in an aggressive manner toward the driver, English indicated.

During the investigation, Mowab repeatedly refused to provide the officers with her identifying information. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Joliet Police Department, where officers were able to confirm her identity.

Mowab was charged with disorderly conduct, assault and obstructing a peace officer. She was processed and released on a Notice to Appear in court.
