D Construction Site On Oneida Street Lures 2 Thieves To Steal Equipment, 2 Arrests Made: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL —When people drive around Joliet, it's not uncommon to notice road construction zones where millions of dollars of construction company equipment remain parked, often for days and weeks at a time.

This past weekend made a pair of arrests — Michael Sikic, 62, of Joliet and Katie Glisson, 38, of Joliet — in connection with stolen construction equipment being taken from the D Construction company as part of its work along Joliet's Oneida Street.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 10:22 a.m. on Sunday, the officers responded to the 600 block of Oneida for a report of construction materials that had been stolen from an active street construction project.

English said that earlier that morning, two people arrived in a
pickup truck and removed construction materials that had been staged along the curb as part of the ongoing project. The stolen materials belonged to D Construction Inc.

The individuals involved were not located at that time.
However, at approximately 12:45 p.m. that same day, officers were notified that the individuals believed to be involved in the earlier theft had returned to the area and were reportedly taking additional construction materials.

Responding officers located the suspected pickup truck traveling in the 700 block of Oneida Street and conducted a traffic stop.

English said the officers observed suspected stolen construction materials in the bed of the pickup truck and
identified the occupants as Michael Sikic, 62, of Joliet and Katie Glisson, 38, of Joliet.

"Both matched the individuals depicted in surveillance video obtained during the investigation," English revealed. "Glisson
initially provided officers with a false name before her identity was confirmed."

Sikic and Glisson were both taken into custody without incident. Sikic was charged with two counts of felony theft and was also cited for misuse of registration and driving while license suspended. He was processed and released on a notice to appear.

Glisson was charged with two counts of felony theft and one count of obstructing justice. Officers also determined
that Glisson had an active Will County arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on previous traffic charges. She was subsequently transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility on the outstanding warrant.

The construction materials taken during the two thefts are believed to have a combined estimated value of approximately $7,000, English added.
