Joliet Drug Dealer Captured At His Oneida Street Apartment, Here's Evidence Joliet Police Found: Prosecutors

JOLIET, IL — When the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow files a petition to deny pretrial release against someone in custody brought into Courtroom 202, there's a strong probability that Will County Judge Donald DeWilkins will grant that petition.

That situation played itself out on Wednesday afternoon as 35-year-old Che Jones of Joliet lost his SAFE-T Act hearing, which means the Joliet drug-dealing defendant will be kept locked away in the Will County Jail indefinitely as he awaits his trial.

On Monday night, the Joliet police narcotics unit raided his apartment unit in the 2200 block of Oneida Street following an extensive investigation into Jones and his continued sales of illegal narcotics, according to police.

The criminal complaint charges Jones with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of possession of controlled substances. The complaint alleges that Jones had 15 to 100 grams of cocaine and 1 to 15 grams of heroin that he was intending to sell.

According to the Will County State's Attorney's Office filing, "officers recovered 6.2 grams of heroin, 17 grams of cocaine, corner-cut baggies, a scale, and proof of residency for the defendant," court files show. "He indicated that he has been living there 3 to 4 years. He made comments as to his bedroom and safe, further stating that if you found the cocaine, you found the heroin."
