JOLIET, IL — A 35-year-old man all the way from Hamtramck, Michigan near Detroit was arrested this week in the City of Champions after Joliet police responded to trouble at the Super 8 motel, 1806 McDonough St., off Larkin Avenue.
By the end of the 911 call, Dmytro Tsikhotskyi, 35, of Michigan, was arrested on charges of assault, disorderly conduct, and
obstructing a peace officer.
Monday's incident happened at 5:30 p.m.
According to the arrest summary from police spokesman Tizoc Landeros, Joliet officers responded to the 1800 block of McDonough Street for an intoxicated man causing a disturbance and refusing to leave a hotel.
At the scene, Tsikhotskyi appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Officers also spoke with the victim, a 36-year-old woman from Rockdale, who said Tsikhotskyi had been belligerent, knocked over a chair and refused to leave, the arrest report showed. The victim also alleged that Tsikhotskyi approached her while yelling and raised a closed fist near her face, causing her to believe he was going to strike her, police said.
Landeros said that when the officers attempted to escort Tsikhotskyi from the lobby, he was uncooperative and attempted to re-enter the hotel.
"During the encounter, Tsikhotskyi placed his hand on an officer and attempted to push past him," Landeros said. "He then grabbed the officer's wrist. Tsikhotskyi was subsequently placed into custody."
That wasn't the end of it.
While officers were escorting Tsikhotskyi from the hotel, he lunged forward, struck a sliding door, and fell to
the ground, Landeros pointed out. Tsikhotskyi had sustained a laceration above his left eye and immediately requested medical assistance. The Joliet Fire Department paramedics responded and treated Tsikhotskyi at the scene. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to the hospital while remaining in police custody.
In the end, Tsikhotskyi was processed and released on a notice to appear in court.
