Mayor D'Arcy Announces New Police Chief: 'I Am Proud To See Him Take This Next Step' (patch.com) — Joliet residents are getting a new permanent police chief as Mayor Terry D'Arcy appoints longtime department veteran Robert Brown to lead the force. Brown, who has spent 26 years with the Joliet Police Department and recently served as interim chief, says he will focus on supporting officers, maintaining high standards, and strengthening community trust across the city.

Thief Steals Sports Cards From Joliet's Walmart Store, Officers Arrest Him At Crime Scene: Police (patch.com) — Joliet readers may notice police arrested a 42-year-old local man at the Walmart on West Jefferson Street after loss prevention reported he bagged six boxes of sports cards and left without paying. Officers recovered about $360 in merchandise, reviewed surveillance video, and booked him into the Will County Jail on a retail theft charge and an outstanding attempted burglary warrant.
   

3. Joliet Driver With No Valid License Flees Joliet Police, But He Gets Caught Eventually: Cops (patch.com) — In Joliet, police say a 26-year-old local driver with a suspended license fled a traffic stop at high speed near Jefferson Street and Springfield Avenue, leading officers to break off the chase for safety. After surveillance in the 2400 block of Douglas Street, officers report they caught him following a short foot pursuit and took him to the Will County jail on multiple charges.
   

4. Disorderly Conduct At Joliet Super 8 Hotel On McDonough As Michigan Man Strikes Sliding Door, Falls: Cops (patch.com) — Joliet police arrested a 35-year-old Michigan man after he allegedly became belligerent and threatening toward a woman at the Super 8 hotel on McDonough Street, then struggled with officers. Authorities say he appeared heavily intoxicated, grabbed an officer's wrist, and later injured himself on a sliding door before being treated by Joliet paramedics and released on a notice to appear in court.
   

5. Joliet street closures, parking changes for Saturday's Black Joy Parade (shawlocal.com) — Downtown Joliet streets and parking patterns are changing today for the Black Joy Parade and Celebration, with closures starting late morning and continuing into the evening. Drivers should expect detours, limited deck access, and heavy pedestrian traffic, while attendees can use courthouse and deck parking and will see a strong Joliet police presence, including drones, for safety.
