Joliet House Goes Up In Smoke As 4 Fire Stations Spend 1 Hour Getting Blaze Under Control

JOLIET, IL — Joliet Fire Department battalion chief Fred Offermann issued a press release in regard to Saturday's fire that broke out around lunch time at a house on Plaza Drive.

According to the battalion chief, at 11:54 a.m., the Joliet Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 1123 Plaza Drive. He said the firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the roof of a single-family residence.

Crews quickly deployed handlines and performed vertical ventilation operations. The fire was extinguished, and firefighters prevented significant extension into the remainder of the residence.

The incident was declared under control at approximately 12:52 p.m. Fire crews from Stations 1, 5, 6, and 8 operated at the scene for approximately one hour.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Joliet Fire Department.
