CREST HILL — For the first time this summer, there has been a murder in Joliet's neighboring community of Crest Hill as the Crest Hill Police Department revealed that a total of four people suffered gunshot wounds late Saturday night.

According to chief Ed Clark, the Crest Hill Police Department was called to the 1900 block of Willow Court around 11 p.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired.

Officers arrived and discovered that four teenagers had been shot. One 18-year-old victim from Woodridge was pronounced dead, the chief said.

Another 18-year-old victim from Joliet is in critical condition and was airlifted to a hospital in Chicago.

A 15-year-old and 16-year-old victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

"Initial information indicates the incident was tied to a gathering in the park and not random," Clark announced.

He said that Crest Hill P.D. Officers secured the crime scene, and the Will /Grundy Major Crimes Task Force was called to assist.

This is an active investigation and anyone with information can call Sergeant Joel Steen at 815-741-5111. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers of Will
County at 800-323-6734. Updates will be provided as this investigation continues, Clark said.
