VIDEO: 'Psycho' Bites Joliet Policeman He Tells Fellow Officers, Arrested Woman Screams, Sings Spanish Songs

JOLIET, IL — In what turned out to be one of the more difficult arrests for the Joliet Police Department in recent weeks, Joliet Patch has obtained body camera footage showing the events surrounding the Aug. 18 Super 8 motel parking lot arrest of 26-year-old Ingrid Acosta Villarraga, who hails from Cincinnati, Ohio.

On Aug. 20, Joliet Patch reported that the 26-year-old woman at the Super 8 Motel was booked into the Will County jail following a weeknight arrest by Joliet police on two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault, criminal trespass and resisting a peace officer.

The Ohio woman was kicked out of the Super 8 Motel property near Larkin Avenue and McDonough Street and when Joliet police officers responded to the scene around 7:35 p.m., they found several garbage bags of her possessions, along with a giant teddy bear, already placed near the sidewalk.

And that's about when things got out of control.

By the end of the ordeal, it took several officers — perhaps around a dozen —to swarm the scene and help with the arrest or be ready on standby to ensure safety. They had to lift the woman off the parking lot and moved her to the back of a squad car after she remained combative and ornery woman for several minutes during her criminal trespassing arrest.

"Psycho!" one Joliet police officer exclaimed. "I think she did bite me."

The officer who said he was bitten by the woman was one of the first responders to the Super 8 on McDonough. The call for service came from the motel regarding a transient woman who had been banned from setting foot on their motel property and she was still there, refusing to leave.

"You need to stay off the property or else you are going get arrested," the officer informs her at 7:39 p.m. on Aug. 18.

"You speak Spanish?" he inquires.

"Only Spanish, I'm sorry," she tells him.

Based on the body camera video, the woman had her smartphone set up to translate the English language into Spanish, although at times during her interaction, the officer tried speaking to her in Spanish, too.

"You need to go over there! I keep telling you," the officer instructed her, pointing to her possessions that were put near the street curb.

Moments later, Acosta Villarraga suddenly began crying uncontrollably. Then she ignored the officer and began briskly walking toward the Super 8 entrance. As the officer tried to stop her, she started screaming at the top of her lungs.

"OK, we're done. She's trying to bite me," he alerted fellow officers over his dispatch radio. "Do not f****** bit me! Do not bite me!"

Joliet police took the woman to the pavement and she continued struggling with them, making matters worse. Joliet Police Sgt. Brian Montello arrived on the scene to supervise and help direct the situation. For much of the arrest, the woman sang songs in Spanish as she lay on the pavement while the female officers performed a pat down search.

"She had two phones," one of the officers revealed. "Put her in the back (seat). Roll her toward you."
