Joliet Girl, 15, Runs To Neighbor's To Seek Help, Woman Arrested By Joliet Police, Taken To Will County Jail

JOLIET, IL — A 30-year-old Joliet woman has regained her freedom after spending the past three days in the Will County Jail following her Joliet police arrest on charges of aggravated domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.

According to police spokesman Dwayne English, at 9:37 a.m. on Saturday, the officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Legacy Pointe Boulevard for a domestic disturbance. He said the officers located a 15-year-old girl at a neighboring residence after she had reportedly fled her home to call 911.
During the investigation, officers learned that an argument had occurred between Katherine McDougal and the teenage girl.

"The argument reportedly escalated when McDougal pulled the juvenile's hair and grabbed her by the neck, restricting her ability to breathe," English revealed. "McDougal then allegedly prevented the juvenile from calling 911, prompting her to leave the residence and seek help from a neighbor. Officers observed minor injuries to the juvenile."

McDougal was placed into custody without incident and charged. The Joliet Police Department and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility. At 1:45 p.m., she walked out of the Will County jail after regaining her freedom.
