World Goes Crazy Sharing Viral Wooden Fence Video On TikTok, But It Was Not In Joliet: Newsweek Reveals

JOLIET, IL — It seemed like everyone stopped what they were doing this past week to watch a video, share and comment on a TikTok and Instagram video — one of the most viral videos the world has ever seen — that purportedly came from a backyard in Joliet.

People sent it to Joliet Patch, others tagged Joliet Patch, hey, did you see the TikTok video of the fence guys in Joliet? Joliet Patch took a cautious approach, after realizing that practically none of the commenters had a response when someone else in the comments forum asked them exactly where in Joliet that the fence controversy took place.

The Google Search engine is filled with news blurbs about the incident with headlines such as "Hispanic workers destroy fence after Illinois homeowner refused to pay" and others such as "Contractor Tears Down Fence After Customer Threatens ICE, Refuses To Pay" and another such as "MAGA homeowner allegedly calls ICE on Latino fence workers to dodge payment."

Finally, on Tuesday, one of the world's most reputable news organizations, Newsweek, produced its own story about the TikTok fence controversy and guess what, the Newsweek story revealed how the fence flap did not take place in the city of Joliet after all.

Newsweek indicated that "officials in Joliet told Newsweek that the home in question was outside the town's limits and in unincorporated Will County."

Newsweek went on to report that it has yet to be able to identify the homeowner in order to confirm his side of the story. Newsweek indicated that in the video shared on Instagram, Cesar Diaz and his workers were seen breaking down fence panels as a white man shouted at them and that Diaz suggested the homeowner may have believed he could call ICE because the workers were immigrants.

"We're about to take away a fence because somebody didn't want to pay. So this is going to be fun," Diaz announced in his video, Newsweek reported.
