1. Woman On Lilac Lane Needs Her Neighbor To Stop Stalking, 'Barking' At Her: Prosecutors Maintain (patch.com) — A Joliet man from Lilac Lane is being held in Will County Jail under the SAFE-T Act after prosecutors say he violated an emergency stalking no-contact order involving his neighbor. Joliet police reports describe recent encounters on the block, including video evidence, and note his prior Will County battery convictions as the judge weighs continued detention.
2. Joliet Central High School Teacher receives Fulbright Teacher Award for 2026-2027 (thetimesweekly.com) — A Joliet Central High School teacher, Lauren Kline, has earned a prestigious Fulbright Teacher Exchange Award for the 2026-2027 academic year, bringing national recognition to Joliet's schools. She'll spend the year teaching and collaborating abroad, then return to share new ideas in technology, AI, and other cutting-edge fields with local students and colleagues.
3. Savvy Sliders restaurant coming to Joliet section of The Boulevard Place (shawlocal.com) — A new Savvy Sliders restaurant is headed to the Joliet side of The Boulevard Place, after the City Council approved its drive-thru permit this week. The Michigan-based chain will take over a space once slated for Starbucks at 16301 Boulevard Place, joining Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse and other eateries in the growing mixed-use development near I-55 and U.S. 30.
4. ExxonMobil: Power failure shuts down Joliet refinery (inspenet.com) — ExxonMobil's Joliet refinery was shut down after a September 13 power failure triggered safety systems, and operations may not normalize until later this week. The outage halted a facility that supplies millions of gallons of fuel daily to the Midwest, and early reports already link the disruption to rising gasoline prices in the Chicago area.
5. Lincoln-Way East volleyball second at Wheaton Warrenville South tourney: The Herald-News Saturday Roundup (shawlocal.com) — Joliet West boys soccer dropped a tight 3-2 nonconference match to Hinsdale Central, while Joliet Central's Nathaniel Gabriel set a school record with an eighth-place finish at the massive Richard Spring cross country invitational. Several other area schools also turned in strong volleyball, golf, and cross country performances across the region.
